Dear Parents,
As a father of four, I understand your desire for your children to have an excellent academic education. As my children neared university age, I began to search for a postsecondary option that would also encourage them in their Catholic faith. From my own experience, I found that most universities and colleges study Man, but leave God out of the picture or present an incomplete or inaccurate view of Christianity-and I wanted a better option for my children and other young Catholics.
I researched several public and private universities in Western Canada, and I found one-Trinity Western University -that was so close to what I wanted that I attended it personally; graduating in 1995. Then in 1999, with the support of Archbishop Adam Exner, OMI, and the Franciscan University of Steubenville, I entered Redeemer Pacific College into a partnership with TWU, Canada's largest Christian liberal arts university. The College opened its doors that fall, offering students an outstanding program of faithful Catholic courses as part of a TWU degree!
Redeemer Pacific College is an authentically Catholic post-secondary institution "born from the heart of the Church" (cf. Ex Corde Ecclesiae). We operate with the firm conviction that our Catholic faith is an integral part of a well-rounded education, and that faith cannot and should not be divorced from reason. At RPC your child will be encouraged to grow in the fullness of truth as taught by the Catholic Church. Your child will be intellectually enriched by the classes we offer, emotionally and socially supported by our vibrant community life, and fed spiritually through through the sacramental life of the College.
I urge you to carefully consider your child's options for higher education, and above all pray for guidance in this area. Post secondary education comes at a critical, formative time in your son or daughter's life. The Church teaches that God created your child for a specific mission that no one else can accomplish in just the same way! At Redeemer Pacific College and Trinity Western University we offer a well rounded education that will help your child discover God's particular calling in their life and equip them to live in the light of His truth.
